What’s In Your Browser

Many ask that with the release of Windows 10, Microsoft has a new web browser called EDGE, is Internet Explorer still an option.

The short answer if yes, for the time being.

Microsoft does eventually plan to eliminate Internet Explorer completely.  As of January 2016 only Internet Explorer 11 will continue to be updated and supported. You can read more about the decision from ABC News here.

So the real question is what browser should you be using?

According to W3Schools, that has 45 millions monthly visits,  the most popular browser since March 2002 is Google Chrome.

So what makes Chrome so popular? And it is popular, presently holding 73.7% of the market share, next is Firefox at 15.4%. You can see the full and monthly updated list from W3Schools here.

By far it popularity is due to it’s ease of use or usability. Right from the start Chrome made it simple to get where you wanted to go on the internet without hassle. This minimal approach to it’s layout makes it easy for even the most novice user to navigate the web. Other contributing features are its overall performance, speed and robustness, the search integration with Google, the use of Extension (adopted from Firefox) to allow ease for programmers and the overall development direction the Chrome team has taken to be with current as well as stay ahead of the curb.
